As Christians we believe in the power of prayer. We believe that prayer makes a difference – simply because we believe in the power and promise of God, that God makes a difference and that He truly does hear the cries of His children (Psalms 34:15; Jeremiah 33:3).
God commended Hezekiah, “…because you prayed…” and He therefore sent an angel to defend Jerusalem from 185,000 Assyrian soldiers (Isaiah 37:21, 36). I wonder what would have happened if Hezekiah DIDN’T pray?
May God give us that deep conviction to pray always, in adoration, confession, and supplication to God, wrestle with Him (in a good way) don’t let go, and never lose heart (Genesis 32:24-28; Luke 18:1).
Let’s be sure to obey Jesus’ commands and lay hold of His promise in Matthew 7:7–8, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”
